Christian Moore went 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBI to power the Angels to a 3-2 win over the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Moore had quite the night at home against the Red Sox. With the Angels down 1-0 in the eighth inning, he took Greg Weissert deep for a game-tying solo homer. Down by one again in the bottom of the tenth, he went yard again for a walk-off, two-run blast off Justin Wilson. The 22-year-old second baseman certainly has excellent power upside if he can overcome some swing-and-miss issues.

Marcelo Mayer with 3-for-4 with a triple, a run scored, and one RBI against the Angels on Tuesday.

Mayer tripled to lead off the third inning against the Angels and scored the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly. He added a base hit in the fifth and knocked in a run with a single in the tenth. The three-hit game was his first of his career and breaks an 0-for-12 skid over his last three games. The 22-year-old infielder is hitting .216/.272/.446 with four homers, 12 runs scored, and seven RBI across 81 plate appearances.

Tyler Anderson allowed one run with five strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Anderson allowed a leadoff triple by Marcelo Mayer in the third inning, who came in to score on a sacrifice fly to put the Red Sox on the board. He then allowed two runners to reach with two outs in the fifth before he was relieved at 82 pitches with five strikeouts. Connor Brogdon would strand the runners on base. Anderson will take a 4.41 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and a 70/33 K/BB ratio across 85 2/3 innings into a start against the Braves in Atlanta on Tuesday.

Garrett Crochet tossed seven scoreless innings with ten strikeouts in a no-decision against the Angels on Tuesday.

Crochet was outstanding on Tuesday, holding the Angels scoreless over seven frames. He scattered three hits and thee walks, striking out ten batters on 14 whiffs for his fourth double-digit strikeout effort of the season. He would have to settle for a no-decision after the Angels tied the game in the eighth. The 26-year-old left-hander will take a 2.06 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and a 135/31 K/BB ratio across 109 1/3 innings into a start against the Reds in Boston on Monday.

Zach Neto was removed with an apparent injury against the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Neto appeared to be in some discomfort after sailing a throw to first base to start the ninth inning. He would leave to the clubhouse with a trainer. We await official word on his status as he’s evaluated.

HOU Left Fielder #16

Cooper Hummel belted a go-ahead solo homer in the eighth inning on Tuesday, accounting for the game’s only tally as the Astros eked out a 1-0 victory over the visiting Phillies.

The well-traveled 30-year-old finally produced the game’s first run as he crushed a full-count offering from Ranger Suárez for a 390-foot (103.5 mph EV) solo shot in the eighth inning that proved to be the difference in the ballgame. Hummel also singled in the ballgame, accounting for two of the Astros’ five total hits. With his 2-for-3 night, he’s now hitting .222/.364/.556 with a pair of homers and three RBI in his limited big league action this season.
Josh Hader

HOU Relief Pitcher #71

Josh Hader slammed the door on the Phillies on Tuesday evening, working a scoreless ninth inning with a pair of strikeouts to protect a one-run advantage.

The flame-throwing left-hander struck out Otto Kemp to begin the inning before plunking Edmundo Sosa to put the tying run on base. Not to worry though, as he got Buddy Kennedy to pop out to first base and then punched out J.T. Realmuto to end it. Hader picked up his 20th save of the season for his efforts and he has yet to blow a single save opportunity this season while registering a brilliant 1.78 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and a 55/7 K/BB ratio over 35 1/3 innings.
Framber Valdez

HOU Starting Pitcher #59

Framber Valdez was outstanding in a no-decision against the Phillies on Tuesday evening, scattering four hits over seven innings of shutout baseball.

Valdez walked four batters in the ballgame while striking out three. He and Phillies’ left-hander Ranger Suárez traded zeroes through each of the first seven frames, which is why the 31-year-old southpaw came up empty-handed despite his brilliant effort. He got just three whiffs on 92 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 24 percent. Through 16 starts on the season, Valdez has compiled a terrific 2.88 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a 102/37 K/BB ratio across 103 innings. He’ll do battle against the Cubs his next time out at home on Sunday.
Edmundo Sosa

Edmundo Sosa went 2-for-3 with a double as the Phillies were shut out by Framber Valdez and a host of Astros’ relievers on Tuesday night.

Sosa singled off of Valdez in the second inning, but the Phillies ultimately couldn’t cash him in from second base. He then smacked a one-out double in the fourth inning but was cut down attempting to score on a ground ball to third baseman Isaac Paredes. With his two-hit effort, the 29-year-old infielder is slashing a solid .290/.336/.411 with two home runs and 16 RBI on the season.
Ranger Suarez

PHI Starting Pitcher #55

Ranger Suárez pitched well in a tough-luck loss against the Astros on Tuesday evening, giving up just one run on four hits over 7 2/3 stellar innings.

The 29-year-old left-hander racked up seven strikeouts on the evening while issuing a pair of walks. He was locked in a scoreless pitcher’s duel until the eighth inning where he surrendered a one-out solo homer to Cooper Hummel that proved to be the difference in the ballgame. Suárez got nine swings and misses on 101 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll bring an impeccable 2.08 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 59/16 K/BB ratio (65 innings) into Sunday’s showdown against the Braves in Atlanta.
