Azurá Stevens stuffed the stat sheet contributing 21 points (8-of-11 FGs, 1-of-4 FTs), seven rebounds, two assists, four steals, four blocks and four three-pointers during Tuesday night’s 97-86 loss to the Sky in 31 minutes of play.

Stevens made her first eight shots which included four three pointers made. The Chicago Sky defense was slow to contest Stevens who stands tall at 6'6 with a 6'10 wingspan. Stevens was responsible for 54.2% of the Sparks’ total points in the first quarter. But once Steven’s hot shooting streak ended in the fourth quarter, she didn’t hit another three or score another point. The Sparks only scored 17 points to the Sky’s 30 in that final frame.
Odyssey Sims

Odyssey Sims (personal) is out for Tuesday’s game against the Sky.

Sims remains away from the team for personal reasons, with the veteran guard having last appeared in a game on June 11. While Sarah Ashlee Barker was her initial replacement in the starting lineup, Shey Peddy took on that role for Saturday’s loss to the Lynx. Peddy should remain the starter, but Barker will also figure prominently in the Sparks’ rotation.

Azurá Steveans accumulated 11 points (4-of-9 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), nine rebounds, three assists, one steal, two blocks and two three-pointers in Saturday’s loss to the Lynx.

Having attempted just three shots in Los Angeles’s loss to Minnesota on June 14, Stevens was a more active contributor for the Sparks in Saturday’s rematch. She’s scored in double figures in four of her seven appearances in June, and Stevens finished Saturday’s defeat with her first complete stat line since June 6 against Dallas. And she isn’t a player who needs to score points to have an impact in fantasy basketball. In ESPN leagues, Stevens has recorded at least 30 fantasy points in five of her last six appearances.
Dearica Hamby

Dearica Hamby accounted for 13 points (5-of-9 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), six rebounds, two assists and four steals in Saturday’s loss to the Lynx.

After attempting at least 10 shots in each of her first 11 games this season, Hamby has failed to crack double digits in that category in her last three. While the veteran forward has not been far off, attempting no fewer than eight shots in any of those outings, that’s a bit surprising, given the Sparks’ need for Hamby’s offensive production. The good news for fantasy managers who have her rostered is that she’s remained efficient, and Saturday’s final stat line included four steals. There shouldn’t be too much concern for Hamby, however, as the track record indicates that she’ll figure things out.
Kelsey Plum

Kelsey Plum tallied 15 points (6-of-16 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), three rebounds, four assists and one three-pointer in Saturday’s loss to the Lynx.

Back in the Sparks’ starting lineup after missing Tuesday’s loss to Seattle, Plum played 39 of a possible 40 minutes on Saturday. That workload may be a positive sign regarding the veteran guard’s left leg injury. However, Plum struggled with her shot against the stout Lynx defense, shooting 1-of-7 from beyond the arc. Sarah Ashlee Barker, who moved to the bench with Plum available, also struggled against the team with the WNBA’s best record. Shooting 2-of-8 from the field, the rookie finished with five points, one assist and one three-pointer in 23 minutes. Los Angeles will look to bounce back when they visit the struggling Sky on Tuesday.

Shey Peddy, Kelsey Plum, Rickea Jackson, Dearica Hamby and Azurá Stevens will start Saturday’s game against the Lynx.

After missing Tuesday’s loss to the Storm with a left leg injury, Plum is available and will occupy her usual place in the starting lineup. However, she has bumped Sarah Ashlee Barker to the bench, while Peddy will remain in the starting lineup. Peddy’s defensive ability has the potential to be invaluable to the Sparks, who remain without Odyssey Sims (personal).

Plum is back after sitting out Tuesday’s loss to the Storm with a left leg injury. Her return means Shey Peddy will be pushed to the bench. However, Peddy should remain in the rotation, as the Sparks remain without Odyssey Sims (personal). And with Plum available to play, the Sparks have waived Grace Berger.

Sims remains away from the team while attending to a personal matter. The good news for the Sparks is that Kelsey Plum (knee) is not on the injury report for Saturday’s game, and her return will undoubtedly give the team a needed boost. Sarah Ashlee Barker has replaced Sims in the starting lineup and should retain that role until the veteran returns.

Shey Peddy tallied six points (1-of-2 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), four rebounds, three assists and one three-pointer in Tuesday’s Commissioner’s Cup loss to the Storm.

With Kelsey Plum (leg) joining Odyssey Sims (personal) on the Sparks’ list of absentees, Peddy was tabbed to make her first start in a WNBA game since August 14, 2022. The veteran guard, who missed the entire 2024 season with a ruptured Achilles tendon, did not provide much production in that role, but Tuesday’s matchup was not an easy one. In addition to Peddy starting, the absences led to rotation minutes for new signing Grace Berger, who logged 16 minutes and went scoreless with one rebound and one assist. If Plum and Sims remain out for Saturday’s game against the Lynx, Peddy and Berger will be asked to play rotation minutes once again.
Sarah Ashlee Barker

Sarah Ashlee Barker accumulated 12 points (4-of-11 FGs), seven rebounds, one assist and four three-pointers in Tuesday’s Commissioner’s Cup loss to the Storm.

After finishing Saturday’s loss to the Lynx with more turnovers (five) than shot attempts (two), Barker was far more active offensively in her second start for the absent Odyssey Sims (personal). The rookie guard established season-highs in points and field-goal attempts, scoring in double figures for the first time as a pro. With Kelsey Plum (knee) also out, there will continue to be additional opportunities for Barker to score. While she isn’t a must-add in standard fantasy leagues, managers in deeper formats should consider Barker ahead of Saturday’s game against the Lynx if the Sparks remain as shorthanded as they currently are.
